Our team work to facilitate a calm, settled environment and focus on each child’s individual needs to foster their emerging skills. They provide a range of interesting resources and activities for children that helps recognise and respond to their individual strengths and interests.
Talofa lava, my name is Violet and I am the Manager at Little Owls Preschool.
I am very passionate about the work I do and I genuinely love working alongside tamariki. I believe that leadership is rooted in service, guided by the Samoan proverb “O le ala o le pule o le tautua” – the pathway of leadership is through service. This is something I try to live by every day, leading with love, commitment, and understanding.
Working with children has always been a dream of mine. I strongly believe it takes a village to raise a child, and I value the importance of building strong, meaningful relationships with tamariki and their whānau.
A guiding belief in my practice is: “E le mafai ona ulufaleina i totonu o le potu a’oga le tu ma aganu’u a le tamaititi se’i vagana ua ulufaleina i totonu o le loto a le faia’oga.”
A child’s culture and identity cannot truly be embraced in the classroom unless it is first held in the heart of the teacher.
Because of this, I place great importance on getting to know each child, their whānau, and their story, so I can better understand how to tautua (serve) and support them in their learning journey.
I am proudly Samoan, and my heritage is a big part of who I am. I am passionate about ensuring that tamariki grow up knowing their identity is valued, celebrated, and carries strength in every part of life.
Outside of work, family is very important to me. I enjoy spending time with my siblings, cousins, and being part of my wider community.
Kia ora koutou. Ko Erin toku ingoa,
I have been teaching for over 25 years and still enjoy each day. I love working at Little Owls, with such passionate kaiako and beautiful tamariki who inspire me each day. I value the uniqueness that each child brings and aspire to support them fully in their learning and growth. I have a keen interest in brain development, which reinforces the importance of relationships, experiences and emotional security are in the early years.
My husband and I have two beautiful tamariki of our own, who we are extremely proud of. Most of my spare time is spent supporting them with their interests. I also enjoy baking, walking, a little bit of shopping and exploring new places.
Kia ora my name is Alex
I have been part of the Little Owls whānau since April 2022 and this is my first teaching role since completing my studies.
Since starting my role in the preschool as a beginning teacher, the team at Litte Owls have been awesome to work alongside. I look forward to continuing to develop professionally and it’s a joy coming to work each day seeing the world through the eyes of our tamariki.
In winter I love to ski and during the summer months I like to jet ski and go boating.
Greetings to all
My name is Madeleine. I have been a qualified preschool teacher since 1986, and at Little Owls Preschool since 2009. My teaching experience has involved working in private ECE centres and community preschools. It is important to me as a teacher to promote a sense of belonging for all children and their whānau. I have a passion for music and movement and often incorporate this into our day.
Kia ora koutou, ko Oakley toku ingoa.
I have had the pleasure of working in the ECE sector for the past five years and am very excited to be nearly finished my Bachelor of Teaching (ECE). I feel privileged to be a part of the awesome team of kaiako here at Little Owls, supporting our tamariki and whānau through the trusting relationships and welcoming environment that we strive to foster each and every day.
My teaching practice is enriched by the principles of the Reggio Emilia approach, valuing relationships and our environment as the third teacher, as well as the hundred languages of children. Outside of work and study I enjoy spending time with my whānau, friends and my dog Tāne, exploring our beautiful whenua and listening to some good tunes.
“A child’s life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark” Chinese proverb
Hello I am Tannia.
I believe that as a teacher it is our privilege to be a small part of a child’s life journey. This quote sums up how I know that I have done my job well when a child moves off to their next steps in life. I love these amazing moments in our day when a child has a light bulb moment, and they have success in their learning. There is a certain kind of magic that you have been trusted to be a part of when a child invites you into their imagination. A sense of wonder that comes with each day.
When I am not being a teacher, I am a mum to my boys – Kolby who is 15 and Bently who is 3. I have a huge family that I love to spend time with, as well as my friends who became family. We love to explore and find new experiences to share. I love to travel and see the wonders that the world has to offer or bury myself in a good book.
Kia ora koutou, my name is Jessie and I have been working here at Little Owls since 2018.
Since I was in High School, I have wanted to work with and alongside tamariki and over the years I have found a passion for teaching infants and toddlers. It is amazing to watch and support tamariki as they achieve a new skill, discover new interests, and strengthen their existing knowledge during their early years.
Throughout my journey here I have been lucky enough to work with and alongside amazing kaiako and many wonderful tamariki and their whānau. When I began my time here at Little Owls, I joined the team as an unqualified kaiako in the Preschool, choosing to begin my study journey in July 2018. I am now teaching in the Nursery and have completed my Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.
My husband Karl and I have one son and enjoy spending time together and with our extended family within New Zealand. I also enjoy anything crafty or DIY, learning new skills and starting too many projects at once
Hi my name is Renee
My teaching journey started a bit later in life, I started teacher aiding at Haeata Community Campus in 2018, working with the primary children with diverse and additional needs. In 2019 I moved over to the senior school and completed my Certificate in Education Support. My time at Haeata had finished so when I was offered a job here at Little Owls in 2021, I jumped at the opportunity to join an amazing team and here I hope to continue to stay long into the future.
I have three amazing children with my partner Stefan; Troy, Katelynn and Blake. In my free time you will find me with my family exploring the many activities and restaurants around the city.
I have a passion for children and their education. I currently teach in the nursery. It is a privilege to get to spend time with your child/children at such a pivotal time in their lives. Learning, creating, and watching them achieve monumental milestones. I thrive on the relationships I make with the children and their whanau.
Kia ora my name is Angela,
Currently, I am in my second year of studying towards my degree in ECE.
I love working around tamariki because their smiles and laughs are so contagious!
They are also the no filtered/brutally honest friends I need!
I completed a student placement at Little Owls before I was offered a position here in May 2023. I support the kaiako in both the preschool and nursery.
My other in interests include nature walks, swimming and all time spent with whānau and friends.
Kia ora, my name is Jordyn.
I have been part of the Little Owls team since 2024. While I was at school, I was fortunate to complete a Certificate in Early Childhood Education through Vision College, which helped spark my passion for working with tamariki.
It is a privilege to be part of such a supportive and inspiring team. I am passionate about building strong, meaningful connections with all our tamariki and feel grateful to be able to contribute across both the nursery and preschool environments.
Outside of work, you’ll often find me on the rugby field, spending time with my amazing family and friends, or attending and serving within my church.
Talofa Lava!
My name is Shatoria-Rose,
My journey into Early Childhood Education began at a young age, inspired by my dream of becoming a primary teacher. Over the years, this passion grew through babysitting for church families and becoming an aunty to 4 nieces and 3 nephews during my high school years. These experiences naturally guided me toward pursuing a career in ECE.
In 2024, I completed my Level 3 and 4 Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care at Ara Institute. During this time, I had the opportunity to complete a placement at Little Owls over a school term. Following my placement, I was offered a casual role and have been part of the team ever since.
Teaching at Little Owls has opened many opportunities for me to learn and grow alongside incredible Tamariki and Kaiako!
Each day strengthens my passion and creativity within ECE. Having experience in both the Preschool and Nursery has taught me so much in a short time, and building strong, nurturing relationships with Tamariki continues to inspire and motivate me every day.
Outside of Little Owls , I also teach part-time at a singing studio, where I tutor students ranging from primary age to adults. Singing and music have always been a significant part of my life, and I hope to incorporate this passion into my teaching practice as I continue my journey in Early Childhood Education.
